On the evening of Sunday, October 1, 59 people were murdered and more than 500 others injured when they were fired upon as they attended a concert in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The U.S. Mission in Australia is deeply grieved by this terrible act of violence and we mourn the lives so tragically lost and forever affected on that night.

We have been touched by the kind words of friends and well-wishers here in Australia.

If you would like to leave your own message, we invite you to post it below.

“Our unity cannot be shattered by evil. Our bonds cannot be broken by violence. And though we feel such great anger at the senseless murder of our fellow citizens, it is our love that defines us today – and always will, forever.”

  3. It’s unthinkable to fathom why someone can hurt so many innocent people. When we grow up all of us try to connect to some kind of inner conscious, soul, and inner light that shows balance with who you are? It’s very unfortunate that someone can miss this important life skill. Life with love has value. You are loved and your value immeasurable know this with all of your heart and being- Linda Kohlen

Same day, on Sunday, 1 October I have participated the Hungarian Havasi Pure Piano concert in the Sydney Opera House on the occasion of the Hungarian Presidency 2017/2018 of the Visegrad Group (V4).It would have been horrific to imagine something similar at the Hungarian concert in Sydney.

  7. To the families of the recent Las Vegas violence:

Your loved ones were there uniting and simply enjoying themselves. I am disgusted by this shooter and all others who use violence against others to only end up cowardly ending their own life. Please know that the majority of Americans are with you. We will fight for reform to our laws to try and ensure this never happens again.

You have an American friend in Australia where not one day goes by where I don’t think about you. I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss.

Maybe the people will see the need for some kind of gun control to stop this crazy cycle of mass shootings. It hurts so much to see the death and pain inflicted upon so many innocent people. God be with each and everyone of them and their families.
